Lifting the lid on Square Pie

Since we started back in 2001 we've made over 100 different types of pie and we like to think we’ve never cut corners on our pies. We have some basic core principles we stick to with all our poise, that’s why they taste so damn good !

We certainly don't want to make a big thing of being healthy as we don't want to spoil the fun of a great pie, but there are a few things you should know about our pies.

No pie worth baking is ever going to be super low fat (we tried and the pastry was awful), but our Square Pies contain on average a very respectable 13g fat per 100g, and the Cottage Pie a dainty 6g per 100g.

The recommended daily in take of fat is 95g for a man and 70g for a woman and our big pies weigh in at 280g and the small at 180g, so we’ll leave the totals to you.

Fats come in different kinds and what is important is which fats are used. We’re proud to tell you that a Square Pie contains mainly good fat (non-hydrogenated vegetable fat) a tasty bit of not so good fat (saturated fat from the meat) but absolutely never any very bad fat (hydrogenated fat).

All natural tastes taste best, which is why we don’t use any artificial colourings, preservatives or flavourings. Even our pastry is completely E-free and has been for years, we just forgot to boast about it.

Hopefully you’ve already enjoyed eating our pies and know that we only ever use prime British hand-cut meat and the best quality fresh vegetables.

All this means a bit of what you fancy is pretty good for you after all.

Here are some full breakdowns of some of the pies, we’ll be getting the rest of them up here in a bit.
