Back in 2001 I sat at a boring desk dreaming of fantastic pies whilst getting increasingly frustrated that I couldn’t find any that I liked. So I decided to find a chef, learn how to make pies and set up the UK’s first gourmet pie business.
We started out on a market stall in Old Spitalfields Market but word soon spread and we got so popular we had to move to a larger restaurant nearby.
Since then we’ve opened more restaurants and sell our lovely pies in some amazing places. Our philosophy has remained the same since day one – always use the very best, fresh ingredients available and work with chefs who know what they’re doing and care about the results. Basically, don’t cut corners.
We’ve been at every Glastonbury festival since 2002 and this year had 3 stands there and hand-mashed over 3 tons of fresh mash potato on site! Come and say hello and enjoy a pie if you’re lucky enough to get tickets next year.
We’ve made over 150 different types of pie since we started (which must be a world record?) plus some extra special ones along the way too – from our Brexit Bake Off ‘In’ versus ‘Out’ pies to our special Shepherds Pie for Keith Richards at Glastonbury.
My wife, Lucy, and I still run the business and always love to talk pie so please drop me a line here.
Here’s to the next 15 years of happy eating…
